Color Critique

1. The pop of color is located in the blue guitar and orange amplifier.  The color made sense because it stood out from its background.  The picture is well balanced due to a good use of rule of thirds.  This photo is well exposed.  The shadows around the person holding the guitar and the amplifier allow for the color to pop, giving the photo a good range of lights and darks.  I would have included the persons facial characteristics in the photo.  This photo gives me a feeling of life because of the guitar and amplifier; the idea of music and photography go hand in hand.  Overall, this is a well exposed image, and it applies a good use of compositional stratergies.

2.The pop of color is found on the guys T-shirt and his guitar strap.  The color didn't make sense because there was so little of the actual color.  It is balanced because the subject is in the middle of the photo and the tops of the structure balance with the color of the guitar..  The shadows in the picture take away from the color on the guitar strap and the symbol on his shirt.  I would have shown the entire guitar.  This doesn't strike any emotion.  This is a good image, but it could have been more creative.

3. The pop of color is seen on the back rest of the chairs and the top of the table.  The colors go together and make sense.  The picture is well balanced because of the two chairs of the same color and the angles that the tables are positioned in.  It is a bit underexposed but it may have been due to the type of lighting that was in the area.  The light and dark tones go perfect together, they give the colors the pop the teacher was looking for.  I would have corrected the exposure of the picture.  This photo makes me hungry because it makes me anticipate some food :D.  This is a good image overall, the shadows were used well, but i think the subject could have been somewhat clearer.

4.The pop of color is in the back rest of the chair.  The color made sense because it was the only significant color in the picture.  The picture is a little unbalance due to the fact that only a piece of the chair was left in frame, although this could be his attempt to display a rule of thirds.  The photo is well exposed despite the shadows that are seen in the picture.  The light and dark tones complement each other.  I would have included the other chair in the frame and maybe would have chosen a different angle from where the photo was taken.  Does not make me feel emotion.  Overall the image is taken correctly, although there isnt really a defined subject because it is just a chair.

5. The pop of color is found on the walls in the background.  The color doesn't make to much sense because it is far away from the foreground.  THe picture seems to be unbalanced.  Also, the photo is underexposed.  THe range of tones did not pan out because most of the picture is found in the dark.  I would have created a better exposure and maybe found a clearer subject for the picture to be taken.  I feel no type of mood or emotion in this photo.  This picture doesn't really appeal to me, due to the fact that its subject and exposure are not great.

6. THe pop of color is found in the straws.  The color made sense because it makes the straw holder and the clear straws pop out.  THis picture is well balanced because of the lettering of the straw holder.  THis photo is well exposed and used the right aperture setting.  The range of tones is perfect because the holder complements the color of the straws.  I would have increased the aperture and taken the photo at a different angle where the bottles of liquor can be seen.  This photo makes me realize that its five o'clock somewhere :D.  This is a great image with the right kind of idea.

7.The pop of color is seen in the energy drink can, the girls shirt, and the lap top case.  THe color made sense because they are all coordinated left to right on the photo.  THe picture is well balanced because of how the pops of color are spread out through the photo. THe picture does seem to be a bit underexposed but that could have been from the shadow that was cast over the girl in the grass.. The range of tones is good because each purple color is a different shade and at a different position in the photo.  I would have included the girls face and tried to avoid the persons legs that pop out from behind her.  This photo gives me the feeling of being stressed at school :(.  Its a pretty decent image despite the exposure, but the idea of it was thought out well.

8.  The pop of color is in the red wall and the red phone.  The colors make sense because even though they are the same color, the shading of the color is different, making the phone more distinct than the wall.  It is well balanced because the red color is carried through out the wall, and also a good use of rule of thirds.  The picture is well exposed.  The range of tones is good because the darker red (phone) and the lighter red (wall) make the subject distinct.  I dont know how i would have taken this picture in a different way.  The photo gives me no emotion.  Overall the image does emphasize the pop of color and is well taken.

9. The pop of color is found in the truck.  The colors make sense because it really stands out from the background.  it is well balanced because of the angle the picture was taken from.   This photo was well exposed.  The tones in the picture are great.  i would have cropped the right side of the picture out, leaving the truck still in a rule of thirds.  This photo doesnt evoke any emotion or feeling.  This is a great image, although i think the subject is a bit boring.

10.  The pop of color is found in the color of the bracelets and the color of the pen.  The colors go together because they stand out from the background.  it is balanced because the angle in which the subject is laying is asymmetrical compared to the direction that the wood is running.  The photo was well exposed.  The tones in the picture are great because they are all different and compliment each other.  I would have flipped the bracelets over so they can be read to match the title that is on the piece of paper/notebook.  This photo makes me want to go out and make a change.  It is a good image with a great idea.
