I chose this photograph solely based on my love for the sport of basketball. It was the very first sport i was ever introduced to and the main sport that i pursued during my athletic career as a child and teen. Basketball had always been an escape for me; it helped me deal with emotions such as anger or sadness. Whenever i felt angry or down i would step on the court and all emotions would clear. Also, basketball helped me stay out of trouble and focused. My focus and attention to the game transferred itself into the school setting, allowing me to perform well and transformed me into a well rounded individual. In the photograph, the placement of the heart on the ball is symbolic; it shows that love and basketball are one in the same. I also enjoy that the photo is in black and white because it gives it a very emotional but serious feel, just like the game of basketball.
